Algonaut Atlas 2.5 is an AI-powered drum sample organizer and drum machine that transforms even the messiest sample library into an endless source of inspiration. Instead of scrolling through endless folders with cryptic filenames, Atlas scans your entire drum collection and arranges every sample on an intelligent two-dimensional map, grouped by how the sounds actually behave. Kicks sit with kicks, snares with snares, percussion and hats with their closest relatives — so the right sound is always one click away.

The heart of Atlas 2.5 is its AI sample map. Using machine-learning analysis, Atlas listens to your samples the way a drummer would: it evaluates timbre, transient character, brightness and body, then places each sound on a navigable cloud where similar samples cluster together. No more guessing what “KCK_77b_final_NEW2.wav” sounds like — you simply move your cursor across the map and audition sounds in context, with each sample lighting up as you hover. Drop in any folder and Atlas indexes thousands of samples in minutes, including support for nested directories and your own recorded one-shots.

Once you find a sound you love, building a full kit is effortless thanks to one-click kit generation. Select any sample on the map and Atlas instantly assembles a complete drum kit around it, picking complementary kicks, snares, hats, percussion and effects from your own library. Feeling lucky? Hit the dice and Atlas generates a fresh random kit in seconds — every roll is a new starting point for a track. You can lock individual pads to keep sounds you like while re-randomizing the rest, so kits evolve rather than disappear.

Atlas 2.5 is also a full drum machine and step sequencer. The built-in sequencer features per-pad lanes with independent step lengths, which means genuine polyrhythms are possible: a 7-step hi-hat pattern can play against a 16-step kick groove while a 5-step percussion loop weaves between them. Per-step velocity, probability, swing and humanization controls add life and unpredictability, and every parameter can be automated. The sequencer supports MIDI drag-and-drop both ways, so grooves can flow straight into your DAW timeline or be built from existing patterns.

A flexible sample editor gives you full control over every sound before it ever hits a pad. Trim start and end points with sample accuracy, normalize, reverse, adjust pitch and tuning, and shape each hit with per-pad ADSR envelopes and filtering. Layer up to several sounds per pad for stacked drums with serious impact, and fine-tune each layer’s volume, pitch and filter independently. Everything you tweak is stored with your kit, ready to recall instantly.

MIDI import and export round out the workflow. Drag MIDI patterns from your DAW or sample packs directly onto the sequencer to drive your Atlas kits, or drag Atlas patterns back out as standard MIDI files — complete with velocity and timing data — for use with any other instrument. This makes Atlas equally at home as a sketchpad for ideas and as a finished production tool inside larger arrangements.

Atlas 2.5 runs as VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in on both macOS and Windows, and also includes a standalone application for beat-making and kit building without opening a DAW. The resizable interface keeps the map, pads and sequencer in view at all times, and full multi-output support lets you route individual pads to separate mixer channels for detailed processing.
