BABY Audio Tekno

Stop scrolling through sample packs. BABY Audio Tekno is a drum synthesizer that builds every hit from scratch — no samples, no static snapshots, no two hits ever exactly alike. With 18 drum engines powered by cutting-edge analog modeling, it gives you a modern drum machine that hits harder and deeper than the legends it was inspired by.

The heart of Tekno is its hexagon matrix of 18 voices: two kicks, two snares, closed and open hats, toms, clap, rimshot, congas, ride, crash, cowbell, block, and a tonal engine. Each voice is a complete drum synth in miniature, combining authentic circuit modeling, FM, and digital synthesis. Tekno was developed with Jatin Chowdhury, a leading analog-modeling engineer, and every hit passes through a complex non-linear VA circuit — so your drums breathe with the subtle variation that made classic hardware magical. The Humanize control exaggerates this, adding per-hit variation in timing, velocity, and timbre.

The v1.1 sequencer turns Tekno into a full beat-making environment. Generate ideas instantly with smart randomization and auto-fill, then shape them with per-lane step lengths for polyrhythms, lane speed multipliers, and chance values that keep patterns evolving. Four choke groups, freely assignable MIDI mappings, per-voice randomization locks, and full kit sample export make it equally at home in the studio and on stage. Drag any pattern into your DAW as MIDI, or drag individual hits as audio straight into your timeline.

Sound design goes deep or stays fast — your choice. Click the gear icon on any voice for calibration and circuit-bending controls that let you rebuild the drum from the circuit up. Or click the dice and let Tekno’s intelligent randomizer invent something new with every click. With 72 global presets and 1,296 voice presets from designers like Virtual Riot, Mr. Bill, and Yoad Nevo, you’ll never start from a blank slate unless you want to.

Every voice has its own analog-modeled FX — tape-style saturation, excitation, compression — and the master section ties it together with a filter, reverb, and a limiter/clipper combo calibrated for punchy drums. Tekno is designed to never digitally clip your DAW, so push the clip slider and limiter to taste.

Tekno runs as VST, VST3, AU, and AAX (64-bit) on macOS 10.11+ (native Apple Silicon) and Windows 10+, plus a standalone version for playing without a DAW. It works in every major DAW: Ableton Live, FL Studio, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Cubase, Studio One, Bitwig, Reaper, and Reason.

If your drums sound like everyone else’s samples, it’s because they are everyone else’s samples. Tekno gives you drums nobody else has — synthesized, alive, and entirely yours.

A free trial is available from BABY Audio, so you can put Tekno through its paces on your own tracks before buying. The v1.1 update — sequencer, choke groups, MIDI mapping, humanize, kit export — arrived as a free update for all existing owners, and the developer has a strong track record of meaningful free upgrades. Your individual license key is delivered instantly by email after purchase, with simple authorization and no dongle required.

Multi-output support lets you route each voice to its own DAW channel for individual processing, and the dedicated reverb bus in multi-output mode keeps your spatial effects organized. Whether you sequence inside Tekno or drive it from your DAW’s piano roll, it adapts to your workflow.
