Rocksolid Audio TEQ-6P is a six-band parametric valve EQ built on real-time SPICE circuit simulation — a live analog circuit in software, not a model. Three valve styles and three transformer styles give you nine hardware personalities, with Classic and Modern UIs, Mid/Side and L/R processing, auto gain and oversampling. Now €49.99 (was €109). Rocksolid Audio TEQ-6P — The Valve EQ That Actually Sounds Like Valves

There’s a particular thing that happens when a great tube EQ hits a mix. It’s not just “warmth” — that word is overused to the point of meaninglessness. It’s the way a vocal suddenly sits forward without getting louder. The way a snare gains body and the room around it seems to bloom. The way the top end of a master opens up like a window, adding air that has weight instead of fizz. If you’ve ever worked on real valve hardware, you know exactly what I’m describing. And if you haven’t, the Rocksolid Audio TEQ-6P is about as close as software has ever come.

Please note: this download is Mac only. TEQ-6P runs as AU, VST3 and AAX on macOS 13 or later (Intel and Apple Silicon).

Why Circuit Simulation Sounds Different

Most “tube” EQs in your plugin folder work the same way: a clean digital filter, plus a saturation stage that sprinkles harmonic distortion on top. It can sound pleasant — but it never quite does the thing. The reason is simple: real hardware doesn’t have separate EQ and saturation stages. In a valve equalizer, the EQ circuit, the tubes, and the transformers are one inseparable thing. Push the low band and the valve responds. The transformer loads up. The whole network shifts. You can’t reproduce that by bolting distortion onto a clean filter, because the colour isn’t applied to the sound — the colour is in the circuit the sound passes through.

TEQ-6P gets this right by doing the hard thing: it’s a genuine analog circuit running in software, using advanced real-time SPICE simulation. Every resistor, capacitor, coil, valve and transformer is modelled and wired together like real hardware, and your audio flows through that live circuit with 0ms-latency processing. So when you boost 100 Hz, you’re not just adding bass — you’re asking a valve circuit to deliver that bass, and you hear everything that comes with it: the subtle compression as the tube works, the iron of the transformer thickening the transient, the harmonics blooming around the fundamental. That’s the sound. That’s the thing.

Three Valves, Three Transformers, Nine Personalities

The TEQ-6P’s character section is where the fun starts. Three valve styles change the soul of the circuit — one might give you silky, forgiving presence on a vocal, another a bolder, more forward midrange on guitars, another the kind of smooth top-end sheen that makes a master bus feel finished. And because the valves are part of the simulated circuit rather than a separate effect, switching styles changes how the EQ bands themselves behave.

Three transformer styles add the iron. This is where the weight lives — the low-end density, the transient rounding, the sense that the sound has physical mass. Pair a punchy transformer with a smooth valve for drums that hit without hurting, or a colourful transformer with an open valve for a master that breathes.

Nine combinations, and each one behaves like a genuinely different piece of hardware rather than nine presets of the same box.

Six Bands of Musical Tone-Shaping

Underneath the colour, the TEQ-6P is a serious six-band parametric EQ with the broad, musical curves that tube circuits are famous for. Small moves do big work here: a dB or two on a master, a gentle lift on a vocal, a bit of low-end weight on a kick. The bands interact with the circuit the way hardware does, so even aggressive boosts stay musical instead of turning harsh or phasey.

The workflow tools are all there too: auto gain so your ears judge the EQ and not the volume change, Mid/Side and L/R processing for stereo work, oversampling for clean highs, an FFT display in the Modern UI, and an Input/Output Link for proper gain staging. Two interfaces — Classic with knobs and switches for ears-only mixing, Modern with grabbable bands and an analyser for fast visual work — both driving the same engine.

The Sound, In Practice

On vocals, TEQ-6P does what great tube EQs do: presence without harshness, air without sibilance. On drums, it adds the weight and glue that usually requires a hardware insert. On the master bus, even a single gentle move — a touch of low-end fullness, a breath of top-end openness — can make a mix feel expensive. It’s the kind of plugin that ends up on every session, because the circuit simply makes things sound better in the way that real analog gear does.

FAQ

Is this really different from other tube EQ plugins?
Yes. Conventional tube EQs approximate hardware with filters plus saturation. TEQ-6P simulates an actual analog circuit in real time — every component wired together, your audio passing through it with 0ms latency. The interactions between components are what give real hardware its sound, and those interactions are exactly what simulation reproduces.

Which valve and transformer styles should I start with?
Start neutral and listen. Try each valve style on your source and pick the one whose harmonic character flatters it, then do the same with the transformers. There are no wrong answers — nine combinations, all musical.

Does it work for mastering?
Absolutely. Mid/Side processing, auto gain, oversampling and the forgiving musical curves of the circuit make it a natural fit for master-bus tone work, where small moves matter most.

Is it Mac only?
Yes — this listing is Mac only (AU/VST3/AAX, macOS 13+).
