Serum 2 Afro House Presets Free Download

Afro House is deceptively hard to sound-design for. The genre lives in restraint — sparse arrangements, long builds, basslines carrying the groove almost alone. A bass patch that hides fine in a dense EDM drop gets brutally exposed when it is one of four elements in the mix. These 40 free presets for Serum 2 were built specifically for that context: the narrow band between electronic and organic where Afro House lives.

And they are free. Download them, load them, learn from them — no cost, no catch, delivered to your email.

Why most presets fail at Afro House

The references tell the story: Black Coffee, Culoe De Song — records built on deep, physical low end, marimba-adjacent plucks and pads that breathe instead of swallowing the mix. Generic synth presets miss this in both directions. Too clean and the bass loses its physical push; too synthetic and the pluck breaks the connection to the percussive textures the style grew out of; too wide and the pad drowns an arrangement that is supposed to stay open.

These 40 presets were designed against those exact failure modes, organized into the four roles an Afro House track actually needs.

The four essential roles, covered

• Basslines — deep, punchy and groove-oriented, built to carry a sparse arrangement without disappearing or overpowering.
• Leads — bright, melodic and hypnotic, designed for the repetition the genre relies on.
• Pads — wide enough to fill, restrained enough to breathe.
• Plucks — percussive and organic-leaning, in the marimba tradition the style grew from.

Forty presets will not replace a full commercial library, but they cover the foundations — and because they are native Serum presets, every oscillator, filter and envelope is open for you to study and modify.

Learn the genre from the patches

Here is the underrated value of a free genre pack: the presets teach. Open a bassline and see how the filter envelope creates movement without clutter. Open a pluck and see how the oscillator blend gets that organic edge. Working inside Serum means the sound design is transparent — the modulation routing shows exactly how each movement was created. For producers learning Afro House, that education is worth more than the presets themselves.

They load in Serum 2 and Serum 1 alike, so no one is stranded by the upgrade.
